The slow tendrils of burning pain twisted their way up my leg. I reached down and wiped off the crystalline drops of blood that were slowly rolling down. The tightened taught muscles in my arm protested movement but I forced them to go. My breath was surprisingly shallow, short and strong through a dry and tattered throat. Each vertebrae in my spine snapped and groaned as they shifted. Pain is surprisingly detailed. The pain of exposed nerves as my pant leg scraped past made an interesting contrast to the mainly overbearing sore nature of my body. Sharp and dull. Intense and light. Pain and uncomfort. The contrast of the signals my brain was receiving created a stunning canvas. Various types of pain from a plethora of places. How fascinating.
